Lucas Chancel is an economist specialized in inequality and in environmental policy. His work focuses on the measurement of economic inequality, its interactions with sustainable development and on the implementation of social and ecological policies.

He is a tenured Associate Professor of Economics at Sciences Po where he is affiliated with the Center for Research on Social Inequalities and the Department of Economics. He is also Co-Director of the World Inequality Lab at the Paris School of Economics and Senior advisor at the European Tax Observatory. In 2023-2024, he is a Visiting Professor at the Harvard Kennedy School and Senior Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics.
